Training Tip of the Week

Get Into Runnning

I know what your thinking, “I’m not a runner, I’ve never been able to run”.

Here’s the good news – Nobody is good at running when they start! Everybody finds running hard if they haven’t done it before, so don’t expect to be to be good at it straight away.

Anybody can run, you just need work at it.

Running is one of the most convenient, yet effective types of exercise. Running or jogging burns more calories than most other types of training, and it can be done anywhere.

If you have never run before be realistic. You probably wont be able go out and run for an hour, you will need to build it up slowly over time.

If you are new to running, the best way to get started is to begin by doing a mix of walking and jogging. For example start by jogging slowly for 1 minute, and walking for 1 minute. As you improve over weeks jog for longer periods, eg jog 2 minutes, walk 1 minute, then jog 3 minutes, walk 1 minute etc. Over a period of months you will get to the point where you are jogging the whole session without walking at all.

You will surprise yourself that you can run too!
